Ski

Never been skiing before but always fancied it. We were lucky enough to get an invite to join some friends for New Year in Morzine. Jet2 laid on the flights once more. Destination Geneva.
After picking up the ski gear from the hire shop we were treated to a snow flurry. Little did we know that this was the most snow we'd see when we were there. We were treated to rain and melting snow for most of the time. Rain at beer o'clock? No sir. But yes, that was what we had. Vin Chaud for Mrs H. Simply to just warm up a bit.

Day 2 resulted in seeking shelter and coming off the slopes at lunchtime for a beer/giraffe and the Tibetan Cafe in Morzine. Well it was my birthday. From F to G too for those in the know.

Day three was a breakthrough day. The weather was good, we sat out in base-layers for a beer and my skiing was looking a bit more like skiing. From the highest peak in the resort we could almost see Mont Blanc. Perhaps later in the day when some of the cloud had lifted higher we might have done. Instead, we skied down the Col de Joux Plane. Scene of one of Lance Livewrongs big days out.

Day four is better left alone. My skiing mojo had left me but my skiing appetite was whetted for another trip at some point. Stacking it and bending a pole was par for the course.

Time to go home, time to hit the road. The snow returns just as we were leaving for the ferry from Rotterdam. Always time to get my Belgian fix. Not to be confused with Belgian Mix.

Thanks to Debs, Ethan and JC for teaching us and putting up with us. Are you mad?
